Deleting Projects with Globe
- Alex DukeSenior Product Manager @Globe
Introduction
Managing projects in Globe just got easier with the new Deleting Projects feature. Once a project is deleted, you have 30 days to restore it before it’s permanently removed.
Whether you’re working on test projects or managing multiple environments, deleting projects keeps your workspace organised and clutter-free. Here’s a quick guide on how it works and when to use it.
How to Use Deleting Projects
- Navigate to the Dashboard: Open your list of projects.
- Select the Project: Find the project you want to delete.
- Delete the Project: Go to the Settings page, and scroll to the Danger Zone section.
- You’ll see the Delete Project option with the description: “The project will be marked for deletion. You’ll have 30 days to restore it before it is permanently deleted.”
- Confirm Deletion: Click Delete and confirm.
Tip: You’ll find the project pause toggle in the Danger Zone. This lets you pause deployments temporarily instead of deleting them entirely. Read our Pausing Projects guide to learn more.
How to Restore Deleted Projects
If you’ve deleted a project, you have 30 days to restore it. Here’s how:
- Navigate to the Dashboard: Use the dropdown filter to view Deleted Projects.
- Select the Project: Locate the project to restore.
- Revert Deletion: Click the Revert Deletion button next to the project. A confirmation modal will appear.
- Confirm Restoration: Confirm to restore the project immediately, returning it to active status.
Restoring a project gives you the flexibility to undo a deletion if the project becomes needed again, without losing progress or settings.
Use Cases for Deleting Projects
Here are some scenarios where Project Delete can be pretty useful:
- Exploring and Learning: Use the free plan to experiment. Delete projects you no longer need.
- Feature Testing: Clean up unnecessary projects after testing.
- Time-Bound Projects: For event-specific projects, delete them after they’re no longer required.
- Reducing Clutter: Regularly deleting old projects keeps your workspace efficient.
Conclusion
The Deleting Projects feature makes it easier to manage and organise your workspace in Globe. Whether for tidying up or focusing on active work, this feature is designed to help.
